In honour of his one anniversary in office, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, today, held a town hall meeting with Abians, residents and interested parties of Abia Central, which includes the South and Osisioma Local Government Areas, Ikwuano, Umuahia North, Isialangwa North, and Umuahia North Local Government Areas.
The venue for the event was Umuahia, Abia State’s International Conference Centre Ogurube Layout.
As Otti read his address, “A Meeting with King Makers,” he referred to the Abians as the kingmakers.
“You are the ones that made me a governor, without you I wouldn’t have been here. You are the ones we are answerable to. I therefore owe my responsibility to you all individually, and collectively, noting that power belongs to God and nobody can boast of that,” he stated.

For the program’s success, he expressed gratitude to the mayors and the state and national assembly members.
The governor emphasised that he has heard their concerns and is not ignoring them, saying that his government is still in its infancy and that they cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different outcomes.
Otti encouraged everyone in the new Abia to actively participate in the governance process by offering recommendations, raising concerns, and becoming involved.
He reaffirmed that the days of the government allocating funds and sharing them on the table are long gone and that things would not continue as normal.
The Chief Executive of Abia insisted that his administration was acting under the people’s mandate, adding, “we promised that we must use the resources of the people to work for the people.”
