Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has publicly declared her pride in social media activist Very Dark Man (VDM), further fueling the rising wave of celebrity support for the controversial figure.

Taking to her Instagram story, the Edo-born actress shared a warm video of her encounter with VDM at Burna Boy’s birthday party. In the clip, the duo exchanged a heartfelt hug, with Yvonne describing him as her “younger brother from Agenebode” and expressing deep admiration for his boldness and advocacy.

“Met my younger brother from Agenebode today.
I am so proud of him.
Agenebode to the world.”

As expected, her post triggered a flurry of online reactions:

  • “Na why him dey see una finish. Yeyebrities,” one user wrote.

  • “All of a sudden, everybody now likes Very Dark Man,” another observed.

  • “Baba don finally meet single mother,” one comment read.

  • “Who no go hug Messiah?” another user quipped.

Despite the polarizing nature of VDM’s online persona, his influence continues to grow — particularly among celebrities who believe in his message and bold approach to tackling social issues.

Over the past months, several public figures have publicly backed VDM — especially during his detention by the EFCC. Notable names who spoke out include:

  • Rita Edochie – Called him “the only young man who is societally outstanding”, warning against silencing his voice.

  • Davido – Acknowledged the positive impact VDM has made, praising his social contributions.

  • Cubana Chief Priest – Lamented the dullness of the internet since VDM’s absence and urged for his release.

  • Angela Okorie – Reminded critics that “no one is holy”.

  • Destiny Etiko – Applauded his bravery, truth-telling, and consistent acts of kindness to society.

  • Phyna (BBNaija Winner) – Went as far as nominating him for President of the Youth Democratic Party (YDP), stating her full support for him and belief in a better Nigeria through his leadership.

While many have rallied behind him, others remain critical. BBNaija alum Vee Iye expressed concerns over the blind support VDM receives. She stated that many of his supporters may need “mental evaluation”, and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility over relying on lone “freedom fighters.”
