The Israeli military has issued a new evacuation order for Palestinian residents in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, indicating a widening of its military campaign in the region.
The directive was announced by Colonel Avichay Adraee, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Arabic-language spokesperson, in a statement posted on the social media platform X.
In the announcement, Adraee cited ongoing “terror activities” in the area as the reason for the expanded military operations.
“Due to terror activities in the area, the IDF, with its manoeuvring troops and intensive firepower, is expanding actions in your area,” he stated. Residents were instructed to move westward to avoid the intensifying conflict zone as Israeli forces increased their presence and military activity.
This latest evacuation order follows previous IDF operations in southern Gaza, where troops have been engaged in efforts to dismantle Hamas’ infrastructure and neutralize its fighters.
The renewed push into Khan Younis suggests that Israeli forces are continuing their campaign to root out remaining militant strongholds, even as international calls for a ceasefire grow louder.
The evacuation directive raises concerns about further displacement in a region where many residents have already been forced to flee multiple times since the war began.
Humanitarian conditions in southern Gaza remain dire, with overcrowded shelters, limited access to food and medical supplies, and ongoing airstrikes complicating relief efforts.
The Israeli military has not specified how long the expanded operations will last, leaving civilians in a state of uncertainty.
As military pressure escalates, the latest order underscores the persistent volatility in Gaza and the challenges facing civilians caught in the conflict.
