Umar Namadi, the governor of Jigawa State, has given the managers of Primary Health Care (PHC) the responsibility of making sure that no one is harmed or killed by medical expenses.
This was said by Isa Surajo, the Jigawa State Governor’s Technical Advisor on Health, at the Ministry for Local Government, State Secretariat, Dutse, during the distribution of medications and other supplies to PHC managers of the 27 local government areas.
According to Surajo, the intervention would significantly enhance the state governor’s efforts to guarantee that no one in the state suffers or passes away as a result of medical expenses.
Surajo said:
“Under the 12-point agenda of Governor Umar Namadi, there is provision to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare services for everyone in the state. This initiative we are witnessing today is a good partnership in achieving the desired goals.”
According to Ahmed Garba, the State Commissioner for Local Governments, the state government and Governor Namadi have spent more than N580 million in 2024 working with local governments to purchase medications that will be distributed to PHC facilities for underprivileged individuals in each of the state’s 27 local government areas.
According to him, the goal is to assist the state government in advancing universal access to high-quality basic healthcare services for all residents of the state, regardless of their financial situation or geographic location.
