Ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON clash with Equatorial Guinea, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has delivered a resounding message of determination. The seasoned coach, who took charge in May 2022, emphasized that nothing short of triumph is acceptable as Nigeria enters the tournament in Ivory Coast.
Despite a recent setback with Moses Simon missing a penalty kick in a 2-0 loss to Guinea during preparation in Abu Dhabi, Peseiro is unwavering in his commitment to success. Nigeria, currently in a training camp, played two friendlies as part of their preparations and is set to face Equatorial Guinea’s Nzalang Nacional Los Elefantes on Sunday.
In a press statement, Peseiro outlined his strategy for the short and challenging tournament, acknowledging Equatorial Guinea’s strong history in AFCON. “We want to win, we want to put the focus on everything—training, meals, rest—all hundred percent focus so we can get the win on Sunday. It’s important for us,” asserted Peseiro.
The Super Eagles will face challenges in the absence of Victor Boniface, who sustained an injury, leading to his replacement by Terem Moffi. As Peseiro steers the team into the AFCON battleground, expectations are high for a spirited start and a triumphant journey in the competition.
