Jennifer Odonwodo, widow of beloved Nollywood actor Junior Pope, is celebrating a significant milestone in their son’s life—his graduation from primary school.
Sharing a touching clip from the ceremony, Jennifer poured out her gratitude to God, whom she described as “the husband of the widow and the father of the fatherless.” She thanked Him for always showing up, especially during moments when hope seemed to fade.
In a direct message to her late husband, she described the day as bittersweet. According to her, Junior Pope had eagerly anticipated this moment, but his absence was deeply felt. Despite the pain, she said they continue to carry his love in their hearts and hold on to his teachings and memories.
“To our Father in heaven, I know you’re so proud of us,” she wrote.
“It was a bittersweet experience because it was a day you looked forward to. But we carry your love daily in our hearts, and your teachings will forever linger. Keep resting in God’s bosom, Junior Pope. Keep watching over us—we love you always!”
Jennifer also extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has stood by her and her children since the tragic loss.
“To everyone that has supported and is still supporting me in raising my kids, I say thank you—we are grateful,” she added.
“Congratulations, son. It’s indeed a sweet ending to a greater new beginning!”
This emotional celebration comes just over a year after Junior Pope tragically passed away. On April 8, 2024, the actor lost his life along with others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a film shoot led by producer Adanma Luke. The tragedy sparked national outrage over the lack of safety measures provided.
On April 10, 2025, Jennifer marked the one-year anniversary of his passing, reflecting on what she described as a year filled with pain, strength, and silent battles. She noted that not a single day had passed without remembering him.
In May, she also commemorated what would have been his 45th birthday. Sharing a clip of their family, Jennifer mourned the fact that she could no longer surprise him with birthday gestures. Instead, she now celebrates his memory through tears and reflections.
