The Ogun State Government on Friday offered an N50 million reward for information leading to the capture of the individuals responsible for the death of Mr Taiwo Oyekanmi, the former Director of Finance and Administration attached to the Oke-Mosan Abeokuta office of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Oyekanmi, 51, was shot and murdered by assailants at the Kuto Flyover Bridge in Abeokuta on Wednesday, 29 November.
The gun-wielding thugs harassed the dead and two other people as they were making their way back to the governor’s office carrying cash that was withdrawn from two commercial banks in the city of Abeokuta.
The gunmen stole the enormous sum of money and killed the chartered accountant who was born in Ifonyintedo.
Governor Dapo Abiodun pledged not to stop at anything until the assassins are held accountable, stating that the death of the senior government servant shocked and traumatised his cabinet.
However, the state government stated in a statement on Friday that anybody with information that would assist security officers in apprehending killers will be eligible for a N50 million cash prize.
According to the statement:
“Ogun State Government has announced a reward of N50m for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of the state’s Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, on 30th November, 2023 in Abeokuta.
“Information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
