Juventus is considering terminating Paul Pogba’s contract as he serves a provisional ban due to a testosterone doping violation. The French midfielder’s troubles began after a failed drug test revealed elevated levels of testosterone following Juventus’ Serie A encounter with Udinese last month.
While the outcome of a second test on the sample remains pending, a positive result could spell the end of Pogba’s journey with Juventus. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, though not confirming the club’s intentions, hinted that the player’s future would be discussed with his representative based on the test results.
Giuntoli remarked during an interview with DAZN, “It is an unpleasant situation, but the lads are in good shape and we are confident going into the game. I repeat, it is an unpleasant situation, we’ll wait for the counter-analysis tests and then decide along with the player’s agent what to do.”
Paul Pogba rejoined Juventus from Manchester United last summer on a four-year contract, earning €10 million per year. In light of this development, Juventus has reportedly compiled a list of potential replacements, with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey among those considered.
The doping scandal has cast uncertainty over Pogba’s future at the club, leaving Juventus to contemplate their options as they prepare for their upcoming Serie A clash against Sassuolo.
