The Kwara State Government has taken decisive action against several extra-mural coaching centres and cyber cafes across the state for failing to comply with regulatory requirements. These establishments were sealed for operating without proper registration, neglecting to pay annual renewal fees, and violating other state regulations.

According to a statement by Anigilaje Rasheedat Omolola, spokesperson for the State Mass Education Agency, the enforcement exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS). The operation was led by the agency’s desk officer for Continuing Education, Mr. Adedare Olusegun, and Mrs. Komolafe Atinuke.

Executive Director of the Agency for Mass Education, Mallam Yusuf Saka, emphasised that the government had previously instructed all such centres to register and obtain the necessary permits. The failure of some establishments to comply prompted the enforcement measures.

The sealed centers include Upward Success Academy (Offa Garage), Samis Educational Institute (Olunlade), Best Hand Coaching Centre (Odota), Leadership Seekers Educational Services (Asa Dam), Holla Success Computer Services (Sawmill Area), Dynamic Coaching Centre (Tanke), SoftRays Computer Institute (Tanke), and Cisse Edu Services, among others.

Mallam Saka reiterated that the affected centres will remain closed until they fulfil all requirements and settle outstanding dues. He warned that any unapproved centre found operating in defiance of the government’s regulations will face legal consequences.

The government’s initiative aims to regulate the activities of coaching and learning centres to ensure they operate legally and transparently. Proprietors of the affected centres and cyber cafes are urged to cooperate with the government in its efforts to boost the state’s revenue and improve educational standards.
