The Lagos State Government has seized over 200 unregistered and unpainted automobiles, to curb crime and insecurity around the State.
Sola Giwa, the governor’s special adviser on transportation, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The exercise was carried out by a team led by Giwa from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA.
Giwa said that more than 200 unregistered and unpainted automobiles were seized by the crew in the last 48 hours.
He said that the initiative was part of a proactive effort to improve road safety, security, and transportation regulation.
He stated that unregistered cars presented a considerable risk to road safety and security since they frequently avoid mandatory checks and rules, jeopardising their roadworthiness.
According to him:
“The State Government is taking this matter seriously and will hold such companies accountable for their actions.
“Transport companies operating without the appropriate documentation will face legal consequences.”
