The Lagos State Police Command has clarified that they have not received the official autopsy report of the late singer Mohbad, whose death on September 12, 2023, remains shrouded in mystery.
The singer, who was signed to Naira Marley’s record label, passed away in questionable circumstances, prompting the Lagos state government to order a coroner’s investigation into the incident.
As of Tuesday, November 21, 2023, it has been two months since Mohbad’s body was exhumed for the autopsy. The delay in the release of the autopsy report has fueled speculation and raised unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding the 27-year-old singer’s death.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, emphasized the police’s commitment to relying on confirmed facts rather than rumours. He stated that despite rumours circulating about the report’s readiness, the command had not officially received it.
Hundeyin explained that the police would only acknowledge the autopsy report once it is officially submitted to them. He highlighted the necessity for the report to be formally provided, received, and signed by the police. He also mentioned that the family’s lawyer could request the release of the autopsy result from the pathologists.
Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, had previously issued a warning that nobody should proceed with the burial without his approval. The lack of clarity surrounding Mohbad’s death continues to raise concerns and underscores the importance of accurate and timely information in such cases.
