Liverpool FC Appoint New Sporting Director

Liverpool FC has announced the appointment of Richard Hughes as their new sporting director, effective at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Hughes, who previously served as technical director at AFC Bournemouth, brings a decade of successful experience to his new role.

The 44-year-old, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career primarily with Portsmouth and Bournemouth, will officially assume his responsibilities at the AXA Training Centre on June 1, ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. His appointment comes under the leadership of Michael Edwards, recently appointed as Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of Football.

Hughes expressed his pride in joining Liverpool, highlighting the club’s rich history and promising future under manager Jürgen Klopp. He emphasized his commitment to making sound decisions to enhance the team’s success and excite the supporters.
