Liverpool FC has announced the appointment of Richard Hughes as their new sporting director, effective at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Hughes, who previously served as technical director at AFC Bournemouth, brings a decade of successful experience to his new role.
The 44-year-old, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career primarily with Portsmouth and Bournemouth, will officially assume his responsibilities at the AXA Training Centre on June 1, ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. His appointment comes under the leadership of Michael Edwards, recently appointed as Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of Football.
