Liverpool FC received a much-needed midfield boost as Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are poised to return to training this weekend.
Thiago has been recovering from hip flexor surgery, while Bajcetic missed the end of the previous season due to an adductor issue.
The timely news comes as Jurgen Klopp faces a thin midfield following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. The club is still pursuing Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, but the initial bids fell short of the valuation. Andre Trindade from Fluminense has emerged as an alternative option, but no concrete progress has been made yet.
With the season opener against Chelsea approaching, the Reds may turn to summer signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, or Curtis Jones, who played in the holding midfield role during their recent trip to Singapore. However, Bajcetic and Thiago’s full fitness remains uncertain for the fixture.
