Minister of Works, David Umahi, has openly declared that his loyalty is first to God and then to President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on Monday, Umahi emphasised that he takes instructions only from these two authorities, highlighting the deep trust and faith guiding his service.
Umahi’s comments came as he responded to President Tinubu’s recent commendation of his efforts in infrastructure development.
The minister described the praise as more valuable than one trillion dollars to him, seeing it as confirmation that he is on the right path and that his prayers are being answered.
“I have told the President even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then, him,” Umahi stated.
He explained that such a high level of trust from President Tinubu demands absolute faithfulness, and betraying that trust would be both wrong and, in his words, “devilish.”
Umahi warned that anyone who betrays Tinubu after receiving such confidence would provoke the anger of God.
He cited the example of overseeing the procurement of a project worth 1.6 trillion naira, noting that despite the huge value, the president never questioned his handling of the project, reflecting great trust.
He added that he prays daily that he never places himself, his family, or friends above God, President Tinubu, or the Nigerian people.
“May God not answer my prayers if I ever do,” Umahi said, underscoring the seriousness of his commitment.
