The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the commencement of preparations for the 2026 Hajj, shortly after the successful conclusion of the 2025 pilgrimage.

The Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano on Thursday upon his return from Saudi Arabia.

Prof. Usman expressed satisfaction with the positive feedback received from pilgrims and key stakeholders, including members of the National Assembly Committees on Foreign Affairs and Hajj Affairs, describing it as evidence of a well-organised 2025 Hajj exercise.

“We have learned valuable lessons from this year’s Hajj and are committed to delivering an even more efficient and seamless operation in 2026,” he assured.

The NAHCON boss emphasised the need for early registration, citing strict timelines imposed by Saudi Arabian authorities. He explained that the Saudi government has mandated all participating countries to finalise their logistical arrangements well in advance.

“The Saudi authorities have made it clear that they will not accommodate delays. They expect all preparations to be completed early, and we must adhere to these guidelines,” he stated.

Prof. Usman also revealed that NAHCON is working on obtaining the necessary approvals to announce the 2026 Hajj fare soon. He urged intending pilgrims to register promptly to avoid last-minute complications, stressing that early planning would help ensure a smooth and stress-free pilgrimage experience.

The announcement underscores NAHCON’s proactive approach to addressing past challenges and improving service delivery for future Hajj exercises. With Saudi Arabia tightening its deadlines, the commission aims to streamline operations and enhance coordination to meet the expectations of Nigerian pilgrims. Authorities have advised prospective pilgrims to stay updated through official NAHCON channels for further announcements regarding registration and payment procedures.
