The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos, intercepted a large shipment of methamphetamine. NDLEA agents discovered and seized the unlawful narcotics shipment on Tuesday, May 16. It weighed 30.10 kilograms and was valued at N567 million.
NDLEA agents conducted follow-up operations, arresting a freight agent, Nwobodo Chidiebere, and a female suspect, Chioma Lucy Akuta. In addition, the drug lord behind the shipment, Charles Chinedu Ezeh, was arrested on Thursday, May 18.
Charles Chinedu Ezeh, a businessman trading in Onitsha, Anambra State, lived in London until December 10, 2022. Then, he fled to Nigeria due to his involvement in a drug-related offence in the UK.
Contrary to his claims, Ezeh has lived in hotels since returning to Nigeria. On Friday, May 19, operatives located his mansion at No. 1 Hawawu Abikan Street, Lekki. A search was conducted, and his travel and property documents were recovered.
