The federal government has stated conditions for any new evacuees from war-torn Sudan, who had recently applied for deportation, must meet.

A total of 2,518 Nigerian evacuees arrived in Nigeria on 15 flights from Sudan. Nigerians in Diaspora Commission spokesperson AbdulRahman Balogun revealed the government’s efforts to rescue Nigerians still stranded in the northeastern African country.

Balogun also announced that the number of evacuees had increased from 26 to 200 when the commission thought the rescue operation was nearly complete.

Addressing those who wish to leave Sudan, Mr. Balogun said, “You must get yourself to Port Sudan. You must have a means of identification as a Nigerian. You must have a verifiable contact or an abode in Nigeria”.
