Nigerian singer Darey Art Alade and his wife, Deola, shared a harrowing experience after their car caught fire on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos. Thankfully, their driver escaped unscathed, and no lives were lost in the terrifying incident.
Deola took to Instagram to recount the frightening ordeal, sharing a video from the scene. She described the experience as both shocking and painful but expressed immense gratitude that their driver made it out safely.
“Yesterday, around 4pm, our car caught fire on the 3rd Mainland Bridge and burned to the ground.
It was a shocking and painful experience, but we’re incredibly grateful that the driver made it out safely. No lives were lost, and that’s what truly matters.”
Deola used the incident to remind her followers how fragile life is and how material possessions pale in comparison to the gift of life. She stressed that her intention in sharing the story is not for sympathy but to encourage others who may be facing sudden losses.
“Moments like this remind us how quickly things can change and how unimportant material things become in the face of life itself. We’re not sharing this for sympathy but to remind someone that things can be replaced, but lives cannot.
Despite the traumatic experience, Darey and Deola remain thankful to God for protection and strength. Deola’s message encourages resilience through tough times:
“We’re choosing to remain thankful to God for protection, perspective, and the quiet strength to keep going. If you’re navigating a sudden loss of any kind, we hope this reminds you: we can rebuild. We can begin again and find the strength to keep going. One breath, one prayer, one step at a time. We give thanks in all things. THANK YOU JESUS!!!”
They also appreciated the kindness of strangers who stopped to help during the incident.
