NiMet predicts 3-day moderate dust, sunshine from Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, predicts moderate dust and sunlight from Monday to Wednesday across the country.

NiMet’s weather prediction provided on Sunday in Abuja forecasted moderate dust on Monday, with localized visibility of less than or equal to 1000m expected throughout the forecast period in the northern area.

According to NiMet, the North Central area will see light dust with localized visibility of 2km to 5km over the predicted period.

It stated that in the South, patches of overcast with sunny intervals are likely across interior and coastal cities in the morning.

Later in the afternoon/evening, thunderstorms with light rain are likely across sections of Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa.

The agency predicted moderate dust in the northern area on Tuesday, with localized visibility of less than or equal to 1000 meters throughout the forecast period.

NiMet predicts that throughout the predicted period, there will be little dust with localized visibility of 2km to 5km in the north-central area.

NiMet projected clear skies with clouds over the southern region’s interior and coastal towns in the morning.

Later in the day, the agency predicted thunderstorms and light rain in sections of Rivers, Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom states.

NiMet predicts minor dust on Wednesday in the northern area, with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km during the predicted period.

During the predicted period, the agency expects moderate dust with localized visibility of 2km to 5km in the North Central area.

The agency expected bright skies in the south, with patches of clouds over the interior and coastal towns in the morning.

Later in the day, thunderstorms and light rain were expected in areas of Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom states.

It added that persons with asthma and other respiratory difficulties should exercise caution due to the current weather conditions.

It also stated that severe gusts may precede rain in places where thunderstorms are expected.
