NNPP’s Galadima criticizes Tinubu govt for worsening economic hardship

Engineer Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has sharply criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, asserting that it has brought nothing but hardship to Nigerians.

In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, Galadima likened the government’s efforts to “digging dry wells,” suggesting a lack of tangible progress despite official claims.

President Tinubu, in his address marking two years in office, highlighted achievements in economic reforms, security improvements, anti-corruption measures, poverty alleviation, and domestic debt management.

However, Galadima dismissed these claims, pointing to the escalating cost of living as evidence of the administration’s failure. He remarked, “We haven’t seen any improvement-not—not improvement where what ₦10 used to buy; can’t even be bought with ₦1,000 now.”

This critique reflects a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction among many Nigerians, who are grappling with economic challenges. Despite government assertions of progress, the reality for many citizens includes rising inflation and a declining standard of living.

The Tinubu administration has implemented significant economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and efforts to stabilise the currency. While these measures aim to address long-standing structural issues, their immediate impact has been an increase in the cost of essential goods and services, leading to public discontent.

Galadima’s comments underscore the growing impatience among the populace for policies that deliver tangible relief. As the administration enters its third year, the pressure mounts to translate economic reforms into improved living conditions for the average Nigerian.
