Umar Tafida, the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, has denied accusations that bandits dominate areas in the state.
Tafida, who made the statement on Tuesday, dismissed the reports as mere fantasies from news sources, emphasizing that the state administration has strengthened security throughout communities to prevent any security breaches.
While interacting with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, Tafida recalled an incident in Mera village, Augie Local Government Area, where bandits tragically killed 17 youths who bravely confronted the attackers.
He said despite the loss, the defenders inflicted serious injuries on some of the gunmen.
Tafida assured Kebbi residents of the government’s commitment to their safety, urging citizens to collaborate with security forces to eliminate banditry and other criminal activities.
He added that the administration, led by Governor Idris Nasir, will continue to execute effective methods to safeguard all inhabitants.
