Nollywood actress Ruby Ojiakor has penned an emotional tribute to her late colleague, Junior Pope, marking one year since his burial. Taking to Instagram, Ruby reflected on the pain of his untimely passing and the void it has left in her life.
Ruby recounted how it feels surreal that it has been a year since Junior Pope was laid to rest in his hometown of Ukehe, Enugu State. The actress described the late actor as her “biggest brother” and expressed her heartbreak over his absence, especially as she looks forward to walking down the aisle, an event she wished he could have witnessed.
“It’s exactly one year today since you were laid to rest at Ukehe, your hometown… It still feels like a dream, biggest bro. It still hurts so deep. Still finding it so difficult to accept this painful reality.”
Despite her grief, Ruby expressed gratitude to God, emphasizing the importance of giving thanks in all circumstances. She concluded her post with a prayer for Junior Pope’s soul and a reaffirmation of her love for Jesus.
Junior Pope tragically lost his life on April 8th, after drowning in the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a movie set. He was laid to rest on May 17th in Ukehe.
Ruby Ojiakor, deeply affected by his passing, took a month-long hiatus from social media to mourn. Upon her return, she admitted to questioning her faith for the first time and expressed bitterness over the circumstances surrounding his death. She also called for justice for those she believed were responsible for his demise.
Junior Pope’s death stirred controversy in the Nollywood community. Ruby criticized fellow actors, including Baba Rex and Adanma Luke, for their actions in the wake of his passing. She accused Rex of using the tragedy as content for social media and alleged that Adanma spread false narratives about the late actor.
Additionally, tensions rose between Ruby and Junior Pope’s wife, Jennifer Awele. The two reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram, fueling speculation. Adanma Luke further added to the controversy by hinting at an intimate relationship between Ruby and the late actor, urging her to reveal the “whole truth.”
