The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has asked citizens and well-wishers to pray for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as he travels overseas for medical treatment.
Governor Akeredolu took a 21-day medical vacation, according to a letter sent to the House of Assembly on Tuesday.
The governor also delegated authority to his deputy, Mr. Aiyedatiwa, to begin ‘acting’ as governor until his return from the medical vacation.
Mr. Aiyedatiwa, in a statement signed and delivered to media in Akure on Wednesday, urged the people not to stop in their prayers to God for the governor’s rapid recovery and return to his job.
While debunking the myth that the governor’s illness had continued to hamper “Government activities in the state,” Mr. Aiyedatiwa encouraged politicians in the state to avoid heating the polity in their preparations for the next year’s election.
