Iyanda Alowonle, the Chairman of the Osun Transport Management System, was allegedly shot to near death while in the custody of the police for a domestic matter, which has alarmed the Osun State Government.
Moses Lohor, the head of the Osun State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping squad, was also sought by the state administration for his arrest, transfer, and prosecution.
On Monday evening, members of the Osun State Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad captured Alowonle.
Furthermore, it was learned via a police source that Alowonle suffered injuries after an apparent escape attempt.
Alowonle was taken into custody for possessing a firearm and ammunition issued by the Nigerian police.
The state government, in a statement signed by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, on Tuesday evening, revealed that Alowonle is currently on life support at the Intensive Care Unit of the Osun State Teaching Hospital, UTH, following a gunshot wound in the abdomen while in police custody in Osogbo.
