Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has reportedly declined an opportunity to assist Jordan Henderson in resolving the crisis at Ajax, opting instead to keep his options open for a potential rebuilding project at Manchester United.
Ajax, reeling from recent poor performances under interim manager John van’t Schip, sought Potter’s expertise to stabilize the club after severing ties with Maurice Steijn in October 2023.
However, Potter, who has been without a coaching role since his departure from Chelsea in April 2023, has turned down the proposition.
The Dutch giants, with Henderson now in their ranks, suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Feyenoord, followed by a Europa League exit after a 4-0 thrashing by Aston Villa.
Despite being approached by Ajax, Potter remains a target for Manchester United, where discussions revolve around the future of current manager Erik ten Hag.
This leaves Potter contemplating a potential managerial role at Old Trafford rather than accepting the challenge at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
As speculation swirls around Potter’s next move, Ajax continues its search for a new permanent boss to steer the club back to success.
