Barcelona midfielder Gavi is unhappy with the club’s decision to bring in Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City. The Spain international is reportedly concerned that boss Xavi may bench him and reduce his playing time. According to El Nacional, Gavi fears that the manager will replace him with the former captain of Manchester City for the upcoming campaign, who would play in the middle of the field alongside Frenkie de Jong and Pedri.
Gavi, whose contract was renewed in January, is struggling to accept the decision.
Barcelona terminated Jordi Alba’s contract as it had not been registered with La Liga. They had exceeded the salary cap. Sergio Busquets’ departure at the end of the season also helped them save money.
Germany international Gundogan moved to Camp Nou on Monday on a free transfer from Manchester City.
