The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Bridget Omolola Oloworaran as Director General of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).
The confirmation came after the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, Cyril Fasuyi Oluwole, submitted a report to the Committee of the Whole noting that the candidate had been vetted and had the necessary qualifications to serve as the agency’s Director General.
In his report, he stated that the nominee held the necessary educational credentials to serve in that role, and that there was no impediment to her candidacy, since there was no petition filed against her.
The member of parliament encouraged Senators to confirm the candidate as soon as possible so that she can continue to carry out her burdensome duties.
“That the Senate do receive and consider the report of the Committee on Establishment and Public Service on the confirmation of the nomination of Oloworaran Omolola Bridget for appointment as Director General of National Pension Commission, PENCOM.”
Sen. Sunday Karimi [APC Kogi West] and Jibrin Isah Echocho [Kogi East] testified of the nominee’s capacity and professional competence.
The Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, who presided over plenary, put it to a voice vote, and she was confirmed as the Director General of PENCOM.
