Seven Die as Vehicles Collide, Catch Fire in Fatal Accident

Seven people were reportedly burned beyond recognition in an accident in Lagos and Ibadan express road on Thursday. At 9:21 am, the fatal accident occurred a few meters from the Saapade Bridge.

According to the Federal Traffic Safety Corps (FRSC), a total of 27 people were involved in the accident, 25 of which were adult male.

A spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun state said 17 adult men and his one adult woman were injured, while –

“a total of seven persons were burnt beyond recognition”.

According to her, a Toyota Sienna, marked BWR762PV, and a Mazda bus, with registration number BDN18 LG, had a head-on collision and went up in flames.

Okpe blamed the driver of the Sienna bus for “excessive speed and route violation.”

According to her, the Sienna bus driver had driven against traffic, thereby colliding with the Mazda bus-

“Unfortunately, there was a fire outbreak,” she stated.

Some of the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere. Others were taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu, she further disclosed.

The remains of the dead victims were deposited at the FOS morgue in Ipara.
