The Super Eagles of Nigeria emerged victorious in the 2025 Unity Cup final, defeating Jamaica in a dramatic match that ended in a penalty shootout at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London.
The match ended 2-2 after regulation time, with Nigeria winning 5-4 on penalties to claim the title.
Nigeria started the game strongly, taking the lead in just the third minute through Moses Simon, who capitalised on a well-delivered cross from Cyriel Dessers. However, their early advantage was short-lived as Jamaica responded swiftly.
Kaheim Dixon levelled the score just three minutes later, punishing Nigeria’s defence with a quick finish.
The second half saw more attacking play from both sides. Nigeria regained the lead in the 53rd minute through Samuel Chukwueze, who dazzled the crowd with a brilliant solo effort.
But once again, Jamaica clawed their way back into the game, equalising in the 63rd minute with a strike from Jon Russell.
With no further goals scored during regular time, the match went straight to a penalty shootout.
Nigeria held their nerve, converting all five of their spot kicks. Jamaica managed to score four, missing one crucial attempt that handed Nigeria the win in 2025 Unity Cup competition.
