Sensational Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems finally received the plaque for her Grammy award. Recall that on February 6, 2023, Tems won the Best Melodic Rap Performance Award at the 65th Grammy Awards. She was honoured for her contribution to Drake and Future’s song “Wait For U.” On Friday, Muyiwa Awoniyi, her manager, announced the plaque’s arrival via his Instagram story.
He displayed the plaque on his Instagram without adding a message. Tems is the first female performer from Nigeria to receive a Grammy.
She is also the first female Nigerian singer nominated for a Grammy award. Last year, she was nominated in the Best Global Performance category for her hit song with Wizkid’ Essence’ but lost to Pakistan’s Arooj Aftab.
