Senator Shehu Sani, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, has praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing an indigene of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, for a cabinet position.
Zephaniah Jisalo, an FCT native, was named to the President’s second batch of ministerial nominations forwarded to the Senate on Wednesday.
No indigene of the area (Gbagyi) has held a cabinet position since the country’s restoration to democracy.
Tinubu made history on Wednesday by appointing Jisalo, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the first Abuja-born minister.
In a tweet on his Twitter profile, Shehu Sani praised the development, emphasising that the indigenous people’s years of prayers and protests had been answered.
The former legislator wrote:
“The indigenous people of Abuja now have a minister in the Federal Cabinet for the first time in history.
“Their years of prayers and protests have been answered. That is a commendable decision by the President.”
