In those challenging times, she resorted to crashing weddings to obtain free meals and drinks, revealing a resourcefulness that helped her survive.
The actress humorously recalled crashing weddings held at a Westchester, Los Angeles hotel. She would confidently grab the microphone, delivering speeches and complimenting the couples, leaving attendees baffled by the presence of an unfamiliar face. This unconventional tactic not only provided her with nourishment but also showcased her fearlessness and determination.
Haddish’s revelation about her experiences with crashing weddings arose while discussing the theme of weddings in the second season of the Apple TV+ series, The Afterparty, in which she stars.
Haddish’s journey to success began after graduating from El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.
