Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential contender, advised President Bola Tinubu to take the initiative by reducing the expense of government.

Peter Obi addressed the status of the country during a news conference held in Abuja on Thursday.

Peter Obi asserts that in order to determine the degree of progress in the country’s healthcare and education systems, the President ought to visit educational institutions and take care of himself at nearby hospitals.

According to Peter Obi, the country’s degree of corruption has not decreased, and the expense of running the government has caused the national debt to skyrocket under the Tinubu administration.

In contrast to the existing pattern of borrowing for consumption, the former presidential candidate said that borrowings are still not linked to projects and that significant national development should have occurred.

“Government officials willfully mismanaged public funds in 2024 through incessant foreign trips,” the LP chairman said.

According to Peter Obi, Tinubu needs to take a road trip “occasionally to observe the appalling condition of public roads.”
