Jess Phillips, a senior minister in the British government, criticized Elon Musk’s recent political involvement in the nation on Friday, calling it poorly thought out and undoubtedly misguided.
Musk has previously claimed that during his tenure as Director of Public Prosecutions, Prime Minister Keir Starmer had neglected to prosecute rape gangs.
The tech billionaire also implied in a series of posts on his X platform that Jess Phillips, Minister for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls, ought to be imprisoned for turning down a request for a nationwide public investigation into a child sex exploitation case in Oldham, a city in northern England.
Musk’s remarks, according to Health Secretary Wes Streeting, were off the point since the government takes child sex abuse very seriously.
According to Wes:
“Some of the criticisms that Elon Musk has made, I think, are misjudged and certainly misinformed, but we’re willing to work with Elon Musk, who I think has got a big role to play with his social media platform to help us and other countries tackle this serious issue.
“So if he wants to work with us and roll his sleeves up, we’d welcome that.”
