UNIJOS Graduates 20,532, 112 students with First-Class

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) will graduate a total of 20,532 students at its 33rd and 34th convocation ceremonies on Saturday.

Vice Chancellor of the UNIJOS, Professor Ishaya Tanko, announced at a pre-convocation press conference on Wednesday that 112 students will graduate with first-class honours.

He said the degrees included 159 doctoral degrees, 3,669 master’s degrees, 281 postgraduate diplomas, 11,281 bachelor’s degrees, and 5,142 from affiliate institutions.

He added;

“For the Second Class Honors (Upper Division), we have 3,093 graduating students and for the Second Class (Lower Division), we have 6,325. For the Third Class category, we have 1,361, and 281 students will graduate with Pass Division while Pass qualified for Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine program is 109.”

Tanko added that the investiture of the new Chancellor of the University of Jos, His Highness Mallam Nuhu Bamali, would be the main highlight of the convocation ceremony. He also mentioned they would confer the Doctor of Laws Degree (LL.D.) Honoris Causa upon the Chancellor, alongside two other notable Nigerians. Professor Elias Bogoro, a former Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, would receive a Doctor of Science degree, while Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, would receive Doctors of Letters during the ceremony.
