Nollywood veteran Yemi Solade has publicly apologised to fellow actor and producer Afeez Owo for a physical altercation that took place over 20 years ago.

Speaking on the latest episode of Behind the Fame—African A-List, Yemi opened up about a long-standing regret. He revealed that during a film shoot on the outskirts of Ibadan, tensions flared between him and Afeez, who was the production manager at the time. According to Yemi, a heated exchange led to him slapping Afeez in the dark—an action he now deeply regrets.

“Let me apologise to Afeez Abiodun. I slapped him once. He was the production manager of a movie. We got to the outskirts of Ibadan, and after filming, he was laying some accusations that got me infuriated. That slap came out of nowhere in the dark, and I didn’t like that,” he said.

Yemi went on to explain that Afeez left the location early the next morning without informing anyone, a move that confirmed the seriousness of the situation.

“It’s been a long time, like 20 years. I’ve complained to some people before, but I just want to address Afeez directly now. I don’t like insults, and that could be my weakness,” he admitted.

The actor has been no stranger to public scrutiny. Recently, he shared how he was denied an award plaque because he refused to pay for it—posting a screenshot of the rejection message from the organisers.

Last year, Yemi Solade faced backlash over a cozy video with his colleague, Apa (Sanusi Izihaq). He clapped back at a troll who questioned his mental state, refusing to be silenced.

He was also accused by a woman on Facebook of sending inappropriate pictures. She described him as a “pervert” and expressed disappointment, especially because he often shared family-related content on his page.

Back in April 2023, Solade sparked concern when he posted a photo of himself looking withdrawn, accompanied by a cry for help to God. Though he didn’t reveal details, the post hinted at a battle with depression.
