Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, said he had a premonition that Asisat Oshoala would score in the 3-2 win against Australia.
Oshoala picked a knock in Super Falcons’ opening fixture against Canada and was a doubt for the encounter against Australia. The Barcelona star, however, passed a late fitness test and was named among the substitutes.
The 28-year-old took the place of Uchenna Kanu in the 64th minute. The forward scored the Super Falcons’ third goal in the 72nd minute.
“I told Oshoala before the match that I needed her to give us the last thirty minutes. I felt very strongly that she was going to get a goal, and she got the game-winning goal,” Waldrum said after the game.
