Famous Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae has recalled how a show promoter once offered to pay her in airtime to play at his event. Recently, she agreed to an interview with Ghana’s 3FM 92.7 in Accra. The singer of “Sad Girlz Luv Money” reminisced about receiving a GH 100 recharge card from a platform in exchange for singing at their event.
Amaarae said,
“When I first started, people weren’t even trying to pay me at all. I actually remember; I’m not going to shame the platform but a platform that offered me credit, MTN credit to perform at their show.”
She said, however, that the same platform gave her a significant sum of money to perform a song for them years later after she had become famous. During the interview, Amaarae revealed that she had collaborated with Nigerian singer Ruger on two unreleased tracks. She claimed that the opportunity to share her variety through collaboration makes her adore it.
