Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has warned Manchester City and other Premier League opponents that his team is seeking “revenge” after losing their last two games.
In addition, Mikel Arteta stated that despite their title rivalry with Manchester City this season, Arsenal had lost all appeal in everyone’s eyes. As the two sides compete for the Premier League title this season, Arsenal is only four points ahead of Man City.
When Man City and Arsenal square off against one other in a pivotal matchup at the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday, Man City will have two games in hand on Arsenal. This weekend, Pep Guardiola’s team plays in the FA Cup semi-final, while Arsenal can go seven points clear in the Premier League standings if they defeat Southampton on Friday night at the Emirates.
Arteta acknowledged that his players exhibited a “sense of vengeance” prior to Arsenal’s match against Southampton.
Arteta said at his pre-match press conference:
“I see a sense of revenge and determination to get it even better and that it is not enough and you’ve to tweak it and demand more and more of each other. That is what we have to continue.”
He added, “Nobody’s talking about what is gonna happen next Wednesday. “We have to become really boring to everybody and be really repetitive and just focus on what we’ve to do this morning, and that’s it.”
The Arsenal coach recently said that Saka would continue taking penalties despite missing from the spot against West Ham.
