Popular Nigerian actress, Empress Njamah, has confirmed the arrest of her ex-boyfriend, Josh Wade, who leaked her n*des months ago. The actress took to her Instagram story to share a video of the arrest and added the caption:

Our God is not asleep.”

Before his arrest, Empress Njamah had reported the incident to the Department of State Services (DSS) because Wade had allegedly done the same to other Nigerian women he perceived as wealthy. The actress had also granted an interview with Linda Ikeji’s Blog (LIB), in which she talked about her ordeal and the damage caused by the leaked n*des.

According to Empress, she trusted Wade and sent him the pictures because he promised to keep them safe. However, she was shocked when she saw the pictures circulating online. The actress stated that she had lost her privacy, dignity, and reputation due to the incident.

She also revealed that she had received numerous calls and messages from strangers who threatened to harm her and her family. Empress Njamah expressed her disappointment at Wade’s actions and said he had violated her trust and caused emotional and psychological trauma.

The actress’s ordeal highlights that the issue of revenge porn is growing in Nigeria, where people share intimate images or videos of others without their consent. It is a form of abuse and can have serious consequences for the victim, including loss of reputation, emotional trauma, and cyberbullying.

Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act

The Nigerian government has taken steps to address the issue of revenge porn by introducing the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act in 2015. The law criminalizes the sharing of intimate images without the consent of the person in the image and provides for a maximum sentence of five years in prison or a fine of one million naira.

However, the law’s implementation has been slow, and there have been few successful prosecutions. Many victims of revenge porn are hesitant to report the crime due to the stigma attached to it and the fear of retaliation.

Empress Njamah’s decision to report the incident to the DSS and speak out about her experience sends a strong message to other victims of revenge porn. It highlights the importance of standing up against such abuse and the need for the government to take stronger action to protect the rights of women and girls in Nigeria.
