According to various sources, Granit Xhaka remains the subject of continued interest from Bayer Leverkusen and might not extend his contract with Arsenal.
Sky Germany suggests a transfer is more probable in 2024 summer when his present deal with Arsenal expires.
Leverkusen had long held an interest in Xhaka, coming close to striking a deal last summer before he managed to turn around his fortunes at Arsenal under Arteta, solidifying their midfield in a season that has seen them push for the Premier League title.
Xhaka was previously Arsenal club captain, and, although that is now Martin Odegaard, he has skippered the team in the Europa League this season.
Arsenal signed Granit Xhaka in 2016 after he’d spent four years in Germany with Borussia Monchengladbach.
Xhaka could discuss terms with other clubs from January next year should he not sign a new contract with the Gunners ahead of a potential pre-contract agreement.
