Major General Gold Chibuisi, the Force Commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), has stated his resolve to keep Lake Chad Island out of the hands of terrorists. The pledge was given by the Force Commander on Friday during operational visits to sectors 1 and 2 of the Chad Republic, Bagasola and Bibi in Blangoua, Cameroon.
Maj. Gen. Chibuisi urged troops under the Task Force to remain steadfast in their support of the operation to consolidate recent gains made during Operation Lake Sanity, which has significantly reduced Boko Haram’s capacity to plan and operate in the Lake Chad Islands known as “Tumbus.” Maj. Gen. Chibuisi stated that the purpose of the visit was to assess the nautical capacity of MNJTF.
The operational trip to Cameroon and Chad comes a day after trips of a similar nature to Mallam-Fatori in Nigeria and Diffa and Bosso in the Niger Republic. These trips are part of continuous operations to combat terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin.
Security analysts believed that the MNJTF had played a significant role in establishing security and peace in the area.
