The Department of State Services facility has been visited by the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
This is in response to the service’s invitation following the announcement of his suspension.
President Bola Tinubu has suspended Bawa because of “heavy allegations” leveled against him.
However, a statement issued by the service’s spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, on Wednesday night did not specify the time Bawa landed.
Afunanya said that his invitation was in connection with “investigative activities involving him.”
According to the statement, “The Department of State Services has invited Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Bawa arrived a few hours ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.”
In an interview with BBC Hausa in May, the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, accused Bawa of requesting a $2 million bribe from him.
Furthermore, in February, the Kogi state government accused the EFCC. Led by Bawa, of becoming a “pawn in the hands of political opponents in a bid to satisfy certain political interests.”
