An expert on the Titanic wreck has expressed her belief that tourist visits to the site will resume, despite the recent catastrophic implosion of the OceanGate submersible that claimed the lives of several people.

Jessica Sanders, President of Royal Mail Ship Titanic, Inc., shared her thoughts on the incident, including the loss of French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, one of the five victims aboard the ill-fated vessel.

Sanders, while acknowledging the tragedy, disagrees with the idea of permanently halting visits to the Titanic wreck. She echoes Nargeolet’s belief that access to the site should not restrict to a privileged few, emphasizing the significance of enabling everyone to witness the artifacts. The submersible incident occurred weeks ago during a voyage to the Titanic wreckage, resulting in the loss of several lives.

Canadian authorities are investigating possible violations of laws leading up to the disaster. Concerns regarding the wreck’s integrity and the risks associated with tourist visits have prompted the necessity for verification and preservation. Despite these challenges, there is optimism that tourist visits will eventually resume, ensuring broader access to the historic artifacts.
