England head coach Sarina Wiegman has revealed how they will stop Nigeria’s Super Falcons in Monday’s last-16 contest at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Super Falcons have proved doubters wrong by securing a place in the Round of 16 at the competition.
They held Olympic champions Canada to a 0-0 draw in their first game and defeated co-hosts Australia 3-2.
Wiegman praised the Super Falcons but hinted they would fashion a way to beat the West Africans.
“I think Nigeria has done really well in this tournament and were in a very hard group. We all saw they did very well,” Wiegman told a press conference on Sunday.
“They are an athletic team, quick in transition, and also want to play. We are aware of their strengths. What we will try to do is exploit their weaknesses.”
