The Lagos State Government has mandated that all basic schools in the state, including nursery, primary, and secondary schools, reopen on Monday, September 4, 2023, for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The resumption is in accordance with the 2023–2024 Harmonised Academic School Calendar, as approved by the Lagos State Ministry of Basic Education, according to the Director General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni.
Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni stated this during a news conference on Monday in Alausa.
She asked all schools and school owners to observe the restart date strictly “for the delivery of quality and sustainable education in Lagos State.”
She said that the unified school calendar is available on the agency’s website for use by parents, school administrators, and members of the general public in the whole state.
The Director General also encouraged owners and school administrators to make sure that the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is strictly followed, as schools are prepare for resumption.
Mrs. Abiola emphasised that “there must be full compliance with all safety protocols on school premises for a safe learning environment, as the state government remains committed to the delivery of quality education.”
