The Delta State Police Command announced on Tuesday that it had detained over 100 LGBT suspects who were attending a gay wedding ceremony at a Delta State hotel.

The state police made this known on its official X (previously Twitter) handle that the accused would be paraded soon.

“Delta State Command has arrested over a hundred gay suspects in a hotel carrying out a gay wedding ceremony. We will be going live shortly on Facebook to parade the said suspects.”

According to the PUNCH, after the signing of the anti-gay law in 2014, people suspected of being homosexuals have been arrested and displayed by security operatives.

In December 2020, the Lagos State Police Command detained ten people accused of homosexual acts in a brothel in the state’s Okota area.

Also in 2018, the state police paraded 57 men for alleged gay activity at the Kelly Ann hotel in Egbeda.

Eight alleged gays were detained in a hotel in Isolo, Lagos, in January 2022 for alleged gay activity.

Anyone convicted of having intercourse with members of the same sex under the 2014 anti-gay law faces a 14-year prison sentence.
