Liverpool secured a 3-1 comeback victory against LASK in their Europa League campaign opener. In the first match of Group E at Raiffeisen Arena in Linz, Florian Flecker scored a 20-yard goal for LASK early on.
Liverpool fell behind less than 15 minutes into the clash through a Florian Flecker effort from outside the box and, despite dominating possession, the Reds had a hard time creating clear chances until Darwin Nunez fired in a penalty before the hour mark.
Jürgen Klopp’s team gradually took control of the game, with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz scoring quickfire goals, including a penalty from Nunez. Mohamed Salah sealed the win with a late goal, earning the Reds three valuable points.
This win also marked a historic milestone for Klopp, as he became the first Liverpool manager to achieve 50 wins in European competitions.
