Inter Miami superstar, Lionel Messi, will not end at the MLS club or Barcelona, according to El Nacional.
Messi joined Miami this summer and the contract he signed will expire in 2025.
At that point, the 36-year-old will look to return to boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys in his native Argentina.
There is an option for Messi to extend his deal with Miami for an extra year but it is believed he wants to retire in his homeland. Messi departed Barcelona in 2021 after over 20 years at the club, having joined the Spanish giants from Newell’s as a 13-year-old.
However, he snubbed a return to Spain when his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired and it now looks like a fairy tale return to Barca is never going to happen.
