In a resounding performance, Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured their place in the next round of the Olympic qualifiers with a commanding 4-0 victory over Ethiopia at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Atletico Madrid star Rasheedat Ajibade displayed her magic on the field, scoring a remarkable brace to ensure victory. The Super Falcons had previously been held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Addis Ababa but made a triumphant comeback.

Nigeria’s starting lineup boasted an impressive arsenal, featuring the likes of Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Toni Payne. The match saw several missed opportunities, with Oshoala narrowly failing to convert in the 24th minute and Nnadozie Chiamaka’s header drifting wide shortly after.

However, the Super Falcons broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, thanks to a brilliant strike by Uchenna Kanu. Oshoala showcased her quality in the 50th minute, dribbling into the box and setting up Ajibade, who delivered a precise finish into the net.

Oshoala found the back of the net herself in the 68th minute, capitalizing on a cross from Uchenna Kanu. In the 72nd minute, Ajibade sealed the victory with her second goal, assisted by Oshoala.

The Super Falcons are now set to face the winner of the match between Uganda and Cameroon in the next round of the qualifiers, as they continue their quest for a spot in the 2024 Olympics.
